Jennifer Burgess received her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Adelphi University and her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law. She brings to the FSHD community her project management and legal skills developed over her career as an attorney.
Jennifer founded the Long Island FSHD Foundation in 2008 to stimulate and fund further FSHD research. The LI FSHD Foundation funded the first FSHD-specific genetic study in the New York metro area.
Jennifer and her family have been personally affected by FSHD, and she is resolute that a treatment or cure for this enigmatic disease can be identified within the next few years.
After meeting Chris Carrino in 2010, Jennifer was convinced that by working together, their combined efforts would enable the foundation to achieve far more in a shorter time.
Jennifer lives in New York with her three children, where she enjoys boating, travel, and sports.
